For the First Time in My Life:

Recommended Posts

Just want you all to know. For the first time in my life I feel that it's okay that I've been fat most of my life.

Had I been skinny I would never have found this place.

Just for the record: The people I've found here make all those fat years worth it.

Now, not only do I feel good about my future. I feel a heck of a lot better about my past.

Thank you.

What a wonderful outlook! If everyone could just see things that way the world would be such a happier place. People, myself included seem to spend so much time feeling crappy about what should have or could have been, that we don't see what will be if we just enjoy. Thanks for the inspiring words

Ryan, isn't it great to feel comfortable in you own skin??? It's only been the last couple of years that I have realised that I can love me as I am. I don't have to be happy about my weight, but I can still love myself. Self loathing used to be a big part of my life and I was miserable. I vow to never be like that again!

I am happy that you have reached that happy place in your life! Good luck to you!

Awwww - you big sweet talker!! You can say things like that any time you want (and you usually do!)

If you're half as sweet around the house as you are here, your wife is one lucky woman!

Oh - by the way - we're quite fond of you, too!!

Talked to Patty today. The only pain she is experiencing right now is the pain of the surgery. But her arm, neck and hand are pain free. First thing I'm gonna do when she gets home is hold her hand.

((((((((((RYAN))))))))) Your posts just always make me feel so much better. Thank you for that.

I'm real glad Patty's pain seems better. She is definitely a very lucky lady. I agree, Michelle.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
