Definitely been a lot of ups and downs over the past week but I am feeling pretty good today. I do have thrush from the oral pain medication so the doctor called in some nystatin for that. Good with fluids today and started eating pureed today. I am holding off to weigh myself until I go back to work on the 1st but I can't wait to see that number go down!

Hi all, had surgery 1 pm on 19, spent night in the hospital and then went hom next day. Unfortunately I got the lucky roll of dice for post surgical bleeding and got read matted to hospital the following Thursday to do ct scan, see where the bleeding was coming from ( inconclusive).stayed the night for more observation and then headed home finally noon today.

Moral of this story.. shit happens.. If it's black, tell your doc immediately.. Sorry to be so graphics, but you need to be prepared.

VSGmama, when was your surgery? I'm anxious to start puréed foods. The sweet drinks are killing me!!

@@craigcu, I hope they got you straight now! Feel better soon!!

I'm counting the hours down to pureed foods. I still have 10 days left of fluids. Yuck!

Me too. 14 days Fluid, 14 days puree. I'm sure I'll be fed up of puree too this time in 2 weeks!

Kudos for not weighing yourself VSG mama. I'm really bad and do it daily. I'm finally losing again I had gained with all the fluids in the hospital.

I had my sleeve and hiatal hernia repaired on Wednesday morning (May 20). My first night in the hospital was horrible with constant nausea, cramps and dry heaves. Of course I questioned my sanity on why I did this to myself, but I'm much better now that I'm home. I've only been able to drink Water but I've done pretty well with it. The flavored and sweetened drinks made me nauseous, and have only been able to take a couple spoonfuls of broth and Jello. I'm not hungry at all and dread the thought of eating anything at all. I'm sure this will pass soon enough! Hang in everyone. We can do this!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
