My doctor did the vgs and repaired my hiatal hernia. He said my hernia was one of the largest he has seen. Him fixing my hernia made my stomach flattened significant.

Had my surgery yesterday. Feeling great.

I had surgery yesterday too but I'm not feeling so good :( my stomach hurts whenever I try to drink something. I don't take gulps just sips. The nurses at the hospital told me that's normal. Is there anyone else who have experienced this?

smcobos2 yes it is normal. I am taking really small sips. I had a really large hernia that had to be repaired. The hernia is right below and between my breast. So I have to very small sips. Popciles were my lifesavers.

Thank you for support! I feel a lot better today. Woke up at 1:30 am and walked around my house for about 45 min. It helped immensely :-)

That's great! Everyday it gets easier and everyday we have new challenges. But we can do this. We have come this far we can't give up.

Everything went well for me during surgery. My Dr. said he repaired a good size hernia. I'm fighting the battle of gas pains. I have been walking but it isn't moving...

Yes that happened to me too. Don't be discouraged keep walking it will help move the gas. Also when I walked I tried taking deep breaths. When I was standing up and walking it allowed me expand my diaphragm making it easier to take deep breaths. Doing this and using the incentive spirometry helps prevent pneumonia.

So far I'm only drinking Water. I've been slowly drinking my Protein Shake. I am having trouble with the pain after I drink something. Do you have this problem too? It's taking me a whole day just to finish a bottle of water :o I'm a bit worried about that

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
