Anyone suffering from IBS have the sleeve? I have either Constipation gas and bloating or diarrhea ALL the time due to sensitive and irritable bowels. TMI I know sorry, but I wanted to see if anyone with the sleeve has the same and how their IBS is after the sleeve?

Mine cleared up but I also follow a strict diet..I hate to mention this and I don't know what your plan is or anyone else but I havnt had a salad since my sleeve I'm 10 months out and I am also off all processed foods, wheat etc..I suffered ibs going back and forth and its completely stopped and I eat raw pecans daily the past few months I even stopped my script for ibs..no bloating here. I also don't drink cow or soy milk..the greassfed cheese and yogurt doesn't bother me..

Great question. I could have wrote your post. I had my gall bladder out 5 years ago and have had ibs since then. I wondered too how the sleeve would affect me.

I had horrible IBS before surgery. Totally gone now post surgery. I think over eating was 99% to blame and of course, eating the wrong foods. I am now a year out and can happily report that diarrhea explosions, excess bloating and gas are a thing of the past! ????

Good evening,

I'm not sure what's going on but since my surgery in March I've been irregular and I'm trying all types of Fiber foods.Because prior to my surgery, I was diagnois with diverculitis in 2012 so I have to stay regular and now I'm starting to get nervous. I don't want that to act up because that's a whole another problem that I just don't want to deal with it. Is anybody else constantly constipated?...LOL

BXB26 - do you take an Iron supplement? If so, it may be (in part) to blame. Traditional iron supplements are notorious for causing Constipation. My dietitian specifically told us to buy Ferrous Gluconate (a type of iron) which doesn't cause constipation. I found it tricky to find as most are just marked "Iron." I had to ask the pharmacist at the drug store to find it on the shelf for me. Also remember that you are eating very little food at this point. There isn't much to dispose of at this point. Trust me, things will get moving along in time!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
