Stephanie Stroup McIntosh 157 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) I weighed 263 the morning of surgery (3/23) and was discharged at 274 3 days later. Today I am at 236. I lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks, then gained 3 pounds when I got my period. Since then, it has come off a lot slower. I did lose 32 pounds before having surgery as well. I am very active and am afraid that I am not actually eating enough calories, so I will be discussing it at my next appointment. I go to the gym 5 days a week and run/walk 1-3 miles, do weights, and take spin classes. I am easily burning over 1000 calories per day at the gym and only eating around 700. I haven't gone back to work yet, but when I do, my activity will increase as I have a very physical job. BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted May 3, 2015 I had surgery on the 27th just last Monday I was 278 and I am already 250 is this normal? it's not unusual. The first thing I noticed when I got home was how skinny my feet & ankles were. I didn't weigh at home but at my 2 wk follow up I was down 26lbs. Just know those early big numbers eventually settle down. Most people do between 6 & 15 lbs a month
jennafah 81 Posted May 3, 2015 I made the mistake of weighing myself when I got home from the hospital. The scale has me weighing 2 more lbs heavier than when I went in. I'm hoping to have the same experience as you by next week.
Alex Brecher 10,515 Posted May 3, 2015 It’s great that you’re doing your research and trying to figure out what to expect and how much weight loss to aim for…just remember that you are YOU! Your experience will be different from everyone else’s. You may lose faster, slower, or right on average. Remember to keep it in perspective. Even if it takes you five years to reach goal weight…who cares? You will be feeling better throughout those five years, and you will still have the rest of your life to maintain your weight. So enjoy the journey, work hard, know what to expect, and expect the curveballs that are definitely going to come.
Debbie Jean 406 Posted May 3, 2015 I've lost weight many many times. The difference this time is that I have more confidence I can reach my goal and stay there. I take it a day at a time and follow the guidelines of my doctor and nutritionist. How fast I lose just isn't that important. I can be patient... because it's a journey... I think of it as a marathon not a sprint. ????

I started with 272 lbs, and now I am 254 lbs.
so excited and so scared 4 Posted May 5, 2015 I hope not to e one of those statistics. They really don't have us losing much weight for what we are doing and paying for. This really is a last option for me and I do not want to be overweight the last half of my life. So I love hearing how much everyone has lost.
Soready2lose 49 Posted May 5, 2015 Thanks for sharing that site, @JamieLogical. My surgery was 2/3/15 and 3 months out I am down 56 pounds! I have had several stalls, the longest being almost 2 weeks. I've noticed that if I'm in a stall, I can usually get out of it by kicking up my Water intake even more. stobrien 6 Posted May 5, 2015 I am down 30 pounds post-op and just started Solid foods after 4 weeks/
erose321 68 Posted May 5, 2015 See I'm really getting discouraged. I was on Clear Liquids for a week and a half post op (sleeve couldn't handle shakes until day before yesterday). I can still only have MAX a 4 oz shake 3 times A day. I'm staying hydrated and in almost 2 weeks I'm only down 13 lbs. I feel like it should be more. I'm up and active every day, even with barely taking in those calories. I just hate getting frustrated so early.

I "only" lost less than 15 pounds my first full month. Second of all, if you aren't getting in all your Protein and aren't getting many calories, your weight loss WILL slow WAY down as your body goes into self-preservation mode. Don't worry. Once you are able to get in more Protein and calories, the weight loss should start back up again.
