After the first few weeks you will likely find that you are losing in a stair step pattern, not in a straight line down.

If you follow your plan the weight will come off, don't worry.

Do not stop your Protein, you need it to lose properly and to prevent muscle loss.

Good luck to you :)

I took out my Protein Shake and noticed the SAME thing happen, my NUT and surgeon said it's perfectly normal. Your body is like a computer downloading data on foods and drinks all over again. I was stuck yo-yoing between 5 lbs for two weeks, suddenly one morning it just dropped and kept going down again. You will have stalls, your body is just adjusting.

Welcome to the 3 week stall. If you do a search of the topics on this site, you will see it is very common and happened to almost every single one of us. Carry on as usual. This too shall pass. One day you will wake up and be at goal weight like me ????. In the meantime, I found it helpful to read posts from others further along in the process so I would know what to expect. There seems to be a predictable pattern to this madness. I'm now a little over a year out from WLS and the repetitive postings tell me we seem to have similar experiences!

Stalls are like lovers. You first will probably not be your last.

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

@@iamjamilyn mine lasted about 10 days. I actually gained two pounds during mine which i assume was Water weight because my clothes were fitting better and better. Then boom over the last two weeks another 10 lbs. It'll come off. Just hold on, drink lots, move, and make great food choices!

How long does the stalls usually last. 10 days ago I started puree food and so far have not lost any since.

The week-3 stall can last 2-3 weeks, but then you''ll be off and running (dropping) again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
