One month post op ????❤️

Recommended Posts

April 20th was my one month surgiversary . Had my month one post op with the surgeon on the 23rd ..I'm down 26lbs ..10lbs of fat :) BMI went from 43 to 39 :)

I've been eating all Protein ..only carb intake has been from fruit and vegetables and practically drowning myself in Water which is helping tremendously with the "bathroom visits " ☺️ .

My surgeon checked my band and said that it looked perfect so no fill was needed ..said I was doing great and cleared me to start working out ...????????

I'm extremely happy with my progress..I'm down a size in shirts and pants ....it's still a little weird adjusting to my pants being too big and being able to wear clothes that I still have tags on in my closet but I'm getting used to it little by little

I think my biggest struggle will be my head catching up to my body changes .????????????????????

As long as you're loosing weight, that's all that matters....

One month after surgery I began gaining the weight back that I lost from the pre-op and post op diets....

Had my first fill at one month, and 2 more after that one month apart.

It was only then did the band start to "work it's magic" and the real weight loss began.

I have read here before about people doing just fine without a fill.....you might be one of those.

BTW, when you day the Dr. "Looked at your band" and it all "looked good".....what did he do? Did you have a fluoroscope or just x-rays? I've heard some Dr.'s do this...mine does not...just asks a lot of questions and had me drink Water after a fill.

Sorry for the late response !

When I go to see my surgeon he has me stand in front of an X-ray machine and we do a swallow test ( not sure what that liquid is called but it's disgusting ????)anyway we watch it as it goes down its really interesting :)

From the last time I was there my band was tight enough that I didn't need an adjustment ..I'm following my doctors orders strictly so so far so good :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
