On Tuesday I will be 3 weeks post-op. The first week I lose 8 pounds and the second week I lose 10 pounds. This week so far...nothing. I'm wondering if other people have experienced this so early on?

@ We had surgery the same day. I have one more week of full fluids. I haven't weighed myself again since my 2 week follow up. From other forums I believe a 3 week stall is normal. How are you doing otherwise?

Please search for 3 week stall on this site and you will find how common this is.

Also one week with no loss is not really a stall. When you go several weeks with no loss then I would suggest your body might be taking a break. Just keep following the plan and the break will end. Your body is just waiting to see what you will do next.

@hello2brenda I actually logged in to say the same thing! I think our surgeries were 1 day apart. I stalled last Sunday and saw no movement until Wednesday, when I went down 1 pound. Then yesterday I had lost another 2 pounds but this morning I was actually UP 3 pounds! Argh. I saw my surgeon on Friday, though, and he said this is normal. I stalled at 29 pounds and every diet I have ever been on I have stalled at 30 pounds so i kind of chalked it up to my body doing some rebooting, lol. Not sure why I am up today but I have been pushing fluids and trying to stay away from a lot of salty stuff.

Thank you all for sharing. It is reassuring to know that I have not yet reached the end of my weight loss! :)

My doctor said that it is very normal to have minimal to no weight loss the 3rd and 4th week. It was very disheartening before I heard that and it caused me to play all sorts of head games. This is normal and keep following your dietary instructions. You will be ok.

It's the "3 week stall". Completely normal and will pass. No one could have convinced me (many tried) back then. Hang in there. Good things coming your way!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
