Surgery in the morning its really happing !

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I cant really believe this going to happen tomorrow .I am having my band removed. I had it done in 2010, I have not had any fluids in it for over a year because I really didn't think it worked so what was the point of keeping if filled. I was still hungry and when I did the food would come back up.

Out with the old and in with the new.

I am getting the sleeve done tomorrow at 9:30.

I have been reading the post witch have helped me so much to keep going on this all liquid fast.

Today is the 7th day ,wow I am so hungry but I did it and I hope my liver did shrink for surgery.

I know I really need this surgery .The thought that I can stick to a healthy eating plan and not be starving and thinking about food and being full sounds like its unreal.

I was hoping you would tell me after you recovered is day to day life for you and eating?

What do you eat on a daily basis? Are you hungry? Does your stomach feel the same but you can just not eat as much? Is the sleeve really make you fell full???

I have read that almost everyone has no regret's I hope I will be one of you saying the same thing!

Thanks for you feed back and wish me luck.

God Bless :)

Congratulations!

On an average day I eat 1200 calories or a little more, I eat anything I want, Sometimes I eat more sweets or other junkfood than usual and I end up at 1600 calories. I kind of quit counting calories on a strict basis but I'm giving a fair estimate. I don't have any foods that are off limits but my tastes have changed a little. I think everyone experiences some change in taste. Some things you find you don't want anymore and you now like things you never liked before.

I'm never hungry. I start wanting some food after several hours but it's not real hunger. It's my head saying Feed Me.

My stomach does get full but never uncomfortably so. What happens is that the food tends to sit on the opening of my stomach and slip through little by little. After so many bites go down it causes a traffic jam and things will get mighty uncomfortable if I send any more food down there. So I stop.

Oddly, I have never thrown up. Not once since surgery. In fact, I do not think I could throw up if I wanted to. I've apparently lost that ability. I don't have regrets. I'm not always happy about the small amounts of food but it is what it is. I look a lot better now. You'll be very happy with that part. Best of luck to you.

Congratulations & I eat what I want. I eat very little. I don't keep a diet log. I cant get smaller then a size 0 and under 110 pounds 5 foot. So my stomach will never be the same. I had gastric bypass so its different from lap band & sleeve. Good luck and all the best

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
