welcome to LBT! I don't live in wyoming but i just wanted to wish you luck. Have you gone to your band doctor? That would be a great place to start, you might need a fill. It is a lot harder losing weight with the band than i expected too, but i think in the long run it will work. we didn't become obese in a year so we can not expect our selves to lose all our excess weight in that first year. good luck!

I was banded in June 2006 also and have reached my goal weight after losing 93.5 lbs. It can be done. You have to stay on top of your fills...once you recognize that you are able to eat more than you should be then you need to adjust your fill....also, you must be careful not to indulge in foods that will otherwise sabotage your weight loss efforts...such as chips, ice cream, and whatever is high calorie that goes down way too easy. The band is our tool, we are master of the tool and we must use it properly. We still need to be smart with our food choices...this is so important.

I hope you get the help you need because I for one know that the band works if you use it properly and exercise good eating habits.

Carol

I was banded dec 2007, it's now right after Valentine's Day and I'm hung at a loss of only 15 lbs. I gain if I eat anything. I only lose on days I've stuck to straight liquids. I'm starving all the time and I'm very frustrated.

I hope to see you are becoming more successful following your fill and I have my second one this week, 2/21, so I'll try to be optimistic.

Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
