Below is a collection of online bariatric cookbooks and recipes put together by bobbyswife. The Bariatric Buddies online cookbook is one of the best resources. You can go to Kinko's to print and bind this book because there is no copyright.

@norcalkitty posted this free cookbook back in October and it is amazing: http://www.chicoweig...ookJuly2014.pdf

I don't know about everyone else, but the LAST thing I wanted to do coming out of surgery was to have to COOK! And I LOVE to cook! So I loaded up on baby food. All three stages (and they were used in such stages). The prunes were the best, to keep me regular, and I loved the bananas, pears, peaches. The meat was acceptable when I seasoned it (remember, baby food has NO seasoning at all, so plan for that!). Same thing for the veggies and casserole-type foods. When I was all done with that, I donated the remaining jars to the food bank, which was very grateful for it. The best part about it was if I was in a hurry, it was ready for me! And it was easy to take with me on the go. Good luck to you!

Clear liquids are pretty limited. I pretty much had my 3 Protein drinks and lots of VitaminWater Zero. Isopure makes a clear liquid Protein Drink that many people use for the clear liquid stage.

@@WL WARRIOR Thank you for the recipes links! I have been browsing them for 30 minutes.

WL Warrior,

Thank you for the websites! I've been looking for something like that. Bariatric Pal has been a blessing to me since my surgery.

Before the surgery I made my own broth and froze it in ice trays. I also made puréed Soup and froze that in ice trays as well. I just didn't want to have to worry about recipes or cooking after the surgery. sugar free Popsicles were my go to as well and still are. Bariatric pal has been my go to for everything. Good luck with your surgery!

STOP????? NOOOOOOO!!! Keep trying to get it all in, you'll get there eventually. Just take small sips, but do it constantly, as it is going in constantly. Have the bottle with you ALL the time. Make it tepid water/beverage if is nauseating, instead of cold. Always start the day with tepid Water, to "prime" the tummy, until you are past this point. You sound like you may have to force yourself to do this, but we all do in the early stages. DON'T give up!!!!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
