So I'm 17 days out from surgery and have only lost 7 lbs...I have 60 to loose just don't know if this is normal....haven't lost anything in a few days...

I lost 26 pounds on my pre-op diet and then gained 12 during the two days I was in the hospital. By the time I lost that, I was in the dreaded third week stall. So it really wasn't until a month before the noticeable weight loss started for me.

As a rule, the less you have to lose, the slower the weight loss. Everyone loses at their own pace. Look at my stats. I'm 8 months out and have lost 65 and have at least 20 more to go. But it has been steady aside from an occasional stall.

Keep getting as much Water and Protein as possible, move a little and it will come off at the rate your body wants it to. I promise.

People post here daily expressing disappointment that they haven't seen the big numbers they see other posting. 7 lbs is a good weight loss. You should be proud of that. As mentioned everyone loses at their own pace. The less you have to lose, the harder it may be. Follow your program, get in your Protein and fluids. Exercise as much as you safely can. The weight loss will happen. I promise you. In the meantime, step away from the scale. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week. Even then do it at the same time of the day on the same day of the week. Take your measurements and look for other NSV. At 17 days post-op it's too early to tell how fast/slow your weight loss will be.

Congratulations! You may have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall a little early. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
