Slow - 4.5 pounds in past month

Recommended Posts

How have I only lost 4.5 pounds in the last month? I'm 9 weeks and 2 days and am 31 pounds down. How can I speed it back up?

Stalls are normal throughout this ordeal. I tried increasing my Protein and increasing my Water intake. Surprisingly it works. :) Good luck....

An average of 3.4 lbs. each week is awesome!!! You're doing great!! (Wish I had that kind of average going on  .)

These slow-going phases are psychologically challenging, to say the least!

Check in with your NUT regarding your food intake. Also, you may need to ramp up your fat burning cardio routine.

When I hit these slow weeks, I keep telling myself that the inches are still coming off even if the scale isn't showing the weight change; it will eventually catch up.

Hang in there!

How are you doing with Protein and Water? What about exercise? Everyone loses at their own pace. Since my second month post op, I've averaged about 6 pounds a month, which is slow compared to most, but the weight IS coming off and that's really all that matters.

You're earlier out than I am, but you are going to see you will have some months slower than others as your weight loss starts to even out a little. You can expect the more "average" weight loss of 1-3 lbs a week. So you are doing just fine!

At this point ( 8 months out), 4.5 pounds is a good month for me. So far this month I've only lost 2.5 :/

i do fine on my protein, still don't get all my liquids in. Exercise... I don't really. Between 4000-5000 steps on an average day. Leave for work at 6am and get home at 6pm, then kids, cooking, blah blah blah, I just crash.

Getting your Water in will be critical to weight loss. If you are still having trouble with discomfort, experiment with different temperatures of Water. I found that really ice cold water was a lot easier for me that room temperature water, which seemed to sit very heavily in my stomach.

As for exercise, it's something you are going to have to figure out in order to achieve long-term success. Even if it's just 10 minutes here and there instead of 30 minutes all at once.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
