I buy the premade just because I think they taste better, however they are more expensive ($15-18 for 12). I LOVE the chocolate Premier Protein. They have 30g of Protein, 1g sugar, and 6g carbs.

Sherry ... I too LOVE the Premier Protein/Chocolate shake. I just tried the Premier Protein Strawberries & Cream, and it's pretty good too ... but chocolate is my favorite. I also bought some Isopure Protein drinks .. they came in a variety pack of 12 bottles. I only tried one just to see what it was going to taste like. It was pretty good too, but there are a lot of choices ..so you just have to make sure you don't get something that you're not going to like. I also have a huge container of whey Isolate Protein powder, made by BODY FORTRESS. Two scoops is 60 grams of Protein. I add skim milk to it and ice and blend it with my Ninja Blender. I have the chocolate, and it's good too. I was confused about what to try also. I got a list of items from my Nutritionist and that helped. Also asking questions like this here is probably one of the best ways to get information about everything.

My surgery is next week ... April 30th ... my 59th birthday!!!! What a great birthday present!

Good luck with finding the tastiest Protein shakes ... there are some good ones, and if you use your imagination ... some of them really do taste like a real milkshake!!!

In the event you think Protein shakes are as disgusting as I do, I have had success mixing the powdered version with almond milk (I don't love regular milk) and greek yogurt with a little PB2. To me it tastes less chalky and you can decide on the consistency. If you freeze the yogurt and half the milk, you can blend everything together and it tastes like a milkshake.

The problem is you may like them now but not after surgery so don't buy too many, like I did! I am 4 weeks out today and still can't tolerate them. It's carnation instant Breakfast SF WITH 1% organic milk and/or Isopure clear alpine punch diluted with Water for me to date. I hope to be able to use the shakes again but they just don't agree with my new tummy...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
