Does your band move?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I just have a quick question, I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

I was just wondering if anyone has felt their band move before (up or down). Like, if you bend over or similar? I have felt this happen a few ties in the bath and while bending over to shave my legs or pick something up from the floor. There is no pain, just a weird pressure. It goes away when I feel the band move back into place.

Hopefully its nothing to worry about.

Thanks

Your band is supposed to be stitched into position precisely so that it doesn't move! If you think it is moving, ask your doctor.

I think I know what you mean.. You feel its moving but it's actually just the pressure of the band pushing inwards when you lean forward maybe.. The feeling is normal.. But technically It shouldn't move..

Yeah, if your doctor did his/her part correctly, your band should not be "moving". If you think you are experiencing your band which is around your stomach moving, then yes as the others have stated, you should see your doctor immediately. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yep I think you understand what I am getting at. Except that I actually think it moves because when I stand up from what ever position I was bent in, it does take a good 15 seconds before I feel it 'pop' back into place.

Very weird! Just glad its not painful :)

I will certainly see my doctor (when I finally get an appointment!) It doesn't happen every time I bend over, just sometimes and it doesn't effect my eating, but you are right, I do need to see my doctor. Because I had my band put in on the NHS (sooo grateful!), it means that I only see my doctor about twice a year, maybe 3 times if I'm lucky.... been waiting about 6 months for an appointment so far...

Nicinoo, just seen you are a fellow Brit. Only come across one other on here! I paid for my band but the NHS took over my care about five years ago, and the care I get is every bit as good as the BUPA hospital!

What I feel is my port moving around. Not that it actually moves...but there are times when my pants get in the way or even if I lay down, I have to sort of move the port into a better position. I'm going to see my bariatric surgeon soon and ask about a lower profile port. Mine sticks out something awful at this point. I'm used to it but there are times when it shows even with clothes on..and I don't care for that at all.

Unfortunately I still haven't been given an appointment mdaily, sometimes it tales a while through the NHS. It's not a problem I have daily, it's more a monthly issue and it doesn't hurt, just feels weird and a bit scary. Hopefully I will see him soon. In any event I'm pretty sure that I would like a revision, but that's a whole different st of issues especially within the NHS.

Wow! I am so lucky! I thought it was standard, obviously not! I was with the NHS in Berkshire and now in Wales. But in both, I had/have the name, mobile number and email of a specialist nurse. Anything I want, I just email or phone and she gets back to me almost immediately with advice. And the once I needed an appointment, she arranged it for two days later. That was with her but she said if we decided I needed to see the consultant, he was on site and we could see him!

But he did say that they would remove or reposition or repair if needed. But I wouldn't meet criteria for revision if I needed that!

I also have a specialist nurse who I can contact and actually I didn't even remember! I have her number and email address -stupid me. Thanks for the reminder! I'm in London (Kings College Hospital) and I usually have an appointment every 4-6 months. After calling my consultants secretary, she has let me know that I am waiting this long because I only want to see my consultant and not one of his team, and unfortunately he has no scheduled clinics atm due to some personal event. He is resuming clinics in the beginning of next month and I'm on his list apparently. Fingers crossed

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
