Hi All,

I had my surgery early this morning (4/21 @7am) and gas pressure has been pretty horrible at times. I'm walking and trying to lay on my side regularly... Any other suggestions or tips?

You're doing it! It just has to naturally be released, and the more you walk, the better. Not miles and miles, mind you, but when you feel uncomfortable, walk some more. Just keep moving, every once in awhile. It'll pass. All the best.....

@@ArtSmartInNH the gas pains were the worst!! Just have some one beat on your back and it helps a lot at least for a little bit. It will get better. Good luck!

Congratulations on your surgery! These first days are tough, but completely doable, you will be amazed how quickly you will recover and begin learning to adjust to your new life. The gas pains should subside soon. I'm newly sleeved (4/8) and know how uncomfortable those first days are. You can do this! Hang in there- walking is the best thing to move that gas out.

Yes I to laid on my side, got up and walked for a bit, I burped a lot after sipping mostly, but actual passing gas seemed better if I was sitting on the toilet. It's been 8 days and I don't feel gassy anymore.

@@ArtSmartInNH also try some heating pads in your painful areas. But for the most part walking and releasing are the two best methods.. as well as time.

I have a lot of gas issues still. 2 weeks out, Gas X is my best friend most times.

While in the hospital the nurse gave me some gas relief meds too. That helped with the walking, and such.

I asked them for gas x and they said they have patients pass it on their own... it's making me very moody right now bc other than the excessive gas feeling I feel OK...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
