turnaroundtina 2 Posted April 22, 2015 I didn't grow up being overweight - I spend most of my youth to 18 underweight. Now I'm almost 39 mother of 7 weighing in at 255 lbs 5'5'... I started my this process last year and became overwhelmed by the process and backed out. I finally had enough - a few weeks ago I had all my records submitted . My paperwork was submitted on 4/13 and I received my approval call the afternoon of 4/14... I couldn't believe it- I felt like kicking myself for not doing it last year. Now on vacation in Orlando - I received my surgery date for 5/14 and all my pre-surgery appointments. I have to start my liquid diet on 4/30... Not looking forward to! My biggest fears are purely vanity - hair loss and sagging skin. Hardest thing I'll have to give up is going to be sweet tea!! But in the end this will be all worth it! May 14 seems so far away but it will be here before I know it!!

May 14 seems so far away but it will be here before I know it!! Who would have ever thought we would become as big as we have as adults. When I was a kid the wind could blow and I would have fallen over I was so thin. Almost looked malnourished but life happened. I am 6 days post op and my worst fear was not being able to eat - period. I really like to eat!! But I want good health too. My hair has not fallen at all, I believe if you have the right suppliments and info you will do ok. As for your sweet tea, I guess you could settle for reg Ice Tea with sweetener. I have trouble having coffee without Creamer so I havent really been drinking much of that since my surgery. I think you will do just fine. Good luck, Donna

CanyonBaby 1,852 Posted April 22, 2015 @@turnaroundtina Good for you for going for it! I'm going to wait for you to tell the world that it was the best decision you ever made! As for the downside of side effects, yeah they come. NOT right away, but a few months down the road. And if it's going to happen (and more than likely it will), it doesn't seem to matter if you take all your supplements and Protein. Your body is sending the nutrients to the vital areas of your body, and the hair on your head just isn't one of them. It passes. Biotin will NOT prevent Hair loss. Read up on it. It just makes what you have look great. And sagging skin is also part of the deal, but what you have to remember (and I think you already know this) is that your health is so much more important than hair and saggy skin. I have found great 3/4 sleeve tops that conceal my saggy arms, and cool capris pants that conceal the saggy inner thigh area. All look great, I FEEL great (now in a size medium), and this is the greatest thing I ever did for me! I think you'll feel the same! I wish you the best on your new journey!
