Depressed..lost nothing this month

Recommended Posts

A month long stall? Is that possible? I've done so well and have kept all my habits the same. I am 5 months out. Started at 289 and am now 211 at 5'4. I want to get to 150 and will not give up. I am meeting my Protein and liquid requirements. Maybe it's time to up the work outs? Up until today I was optimistic think this stall has to end soon, just to end my day in tears thinking I've failed and this is as good as it gets for me. So close to Onederland. Haven't been there since high school and I feel like maybe I just really won't get there. Last month was only a 6 pd loss and nothing this month. How could I not end my day in tears..

That must be so frustrating! What about tracking - does that make a difference? I think changing what you eat and how you're working out could help. If you're doing/eating the same things maybe you're just in a rut and your body isn't being challenged?

That could be, I don't always track on an app or paper but what I eat and drink is pretty easy to keep track of. I think I will change up what I'm eating tho. I do have a cup of coffee now every morning and even tho the Creamer is no sugar free it is fat free, maybe those extra sugars are too much?!

I was in the similar position as you. I decided to track my meals to really be honest with myself and to allow me to evaluate what needed to change. Well i wasn't meeting any targets, none! So i upped my Protein (added shakes/bars) , now i can eat meat, so thats now another option for me to add to my arsenal of Protein rich foods. I try to now eat at least 800 calories aday - i cannot do more. Exercise, i try to do at least 4 x 10k steps a week - i dont always get there but i try! , Now what was left was Fluid intake. This has got to be the hardest thing for me to keep up, and i still struggle with this. But having said all that, with all the changes i made, i lost 6lbs in one blooming week! So maybe re-evaluate everything you are doing, it may become clearer than crystal once you lay it all out on a tracker.

Wishing you all the best with you weight loss journey xox

I am 5 months out and my stall was a month long. From my forth to fifth month I didn't lose anything. It's normal. But I will say I'm only getting in about 750 calories a day and I burn about 1000 calories a day in exercises. I had to up my exercise amount to get to loosing again. I use fitness pal to track everything. Change your exercises from one day to the next, see if that helps. For example, today I cycled twice, tomorrow I will use my elliptical and weights.

I know a stall is hard. But I think my fitness pal is a great app that will help you.

Also stay AWAY from the 'fat free' products and the surger free products. They have either more surgar (fat free) or a lot of ugar alcahol (surgar free).

I like to eat the same thing, but I had to learn to change up the food and the exercie every few days cause your body does get use to it.

Stalls do happen. I was stuck between at 196 for about a month. I thought that was the last weight loss I was gonna have. I did shed many tears. But a month later, It pickeed up like crazy. I went from 196 to 163 in just 2 1/2 months. And then boom another 10 lb out of nowhere.

I have also learned to weigh yourself at the same time everytime you weigh yourself.

Cause I use to weigh myself in the morning and then at night and it would look like i gained weight during the dqy. Then in the morning it was gone. This is a HUGE mistake.

I hope this helps.

Good luck :)

I am also 5 months out. I started at 300 lbs and I am down to 220 lbs. I have not lost anything for a month either. I am getting my Protein and Water in but nothing. I am sure it will pick up soon. But it is discouraging.

I'm 6 mths out on July 28th from RYN. I walking 3.5-4 miles a day but then fractured my stupid foot. My largest was 286 and now I'm 212 and I've been there for at least a mth. I'm freaking out that my pouch isn't working or that I'm through with losing the weight. My goal is 150 so I have at least 70lbs to lose. I'm discouraged though due to my set back and lots of personal stress right now.

Does anyone know if you continue for the last 6 mths losing as well? I try to only eat 900 calories but have gone over on some days. I get my liquids in, mostly, and at least 60 of Protein but I'm stuck. And depressed. And discouraged. I didn't get into this for just 70lbs!!

I am only in week 8, but my advice would be to re-read all of your materials from your surgeons office-regarding nutrition. Then, take inventory of yourself, are you following the recommendations? You have done really well so far. I hope at 5 mos I have been as successful as you!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
