butt is killing me when sitting

Recommended Posts

First time posting for me but I come here from time to time. I'm 15 months post op, down over 90 pounds. I've had no complications except that I've completely lost my butt. It's basically flat now. Aesthetically I don't really care but sitting is so uncomfortable now.

At work I sit on a pad and that helps some. My desk can raise up or down so I can stand if I want to. But even siting on my couch at home or just laying flat on my bed (on my back) is uncomfortable. Hard, wood chairs are excruciating!

If I have to spend the rest of my life with a sore ass I'm going to be very sad. Suggestions? Butt implants? Padded clothes?

Justin

Have you worked out during the weight loss? There are a lot of work outs that improve the muscles on your butt area

My workouts have only been treadmill, stomach exercises and upper body weight lifting (and I'm not hard core about any of those) but it never occurred to me to workout my glutes. I'll Google those exercises and start today. Thanks Mindy!

OMG hilarious because I have the same problem. Also when I ride my Harley now my butt is so sore. I actually do a lot of squats as part of Insanity and I take Spin but my butt is still flat. I think it might also be an age thing (I am 45)

Good luck-

Same problem here! I was "all gut, no butt" to begin with. So now my backside gets sore if I sit for more than 15 minutes at home, at work, in the car, but especially if I'm in a meeting or at a show where you sit in metal folding chairs. Last weekend at a theatre, I found a way to hang my butt off the back of the chair to relieve the pressure. I wonder how that looked from the row behind me?

Hello,

I feel your pain--literally. What used to be my rear end seems to have fallen to the top of my legs  I've been "draggin butt" for months  . I'd like to develop an energy drink that would help when you are "draggin butt"--meaning tired. I could use a dragon logo, cute-huh?

I'm not worried about what it looks like as I am fully clothed in public. The people at the pool may get a shock however when they see me working out. Thankfully, I've reached an age where I don't give a rat's rear end about that.

I'm sorry I have no suggestions to help. I make use of pillows and what ever other aides I can when I MUST sit on a hard surface.

I AM NOT COMPLAINING. I'd much rather have a pain in my "high-knee" than everywhere else because of carrying the extra weight.

Blessings,

Kathleen

I have "Hank Hill" butt as well. I have always had it it is just is worse now. The best way to develop your gluten is squats and lunges and lots of them. Just as the best way to get bigger biceps it to do lots of curls. You need to work your butt the same way. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
