2 weeks post-op and I am SICK of calcium gummies!

Recommended Posts

Is there anything else out there that will allow me to get what I need daily? I've been so good on everything else but having to eat 6 gummies a day is almost making me sick. They are too sweet and I find myself skipping them. That's not good, I know.

I am with you. I have to take 2 GIGANTIC chewable Multivitamins a day and cannot wait until I can just swallow it down. I don't use Calcium gummies, but got caramel flavored calcium chews from the surgeon's office. They are by Bariatric Advantage.

I was allowed to swallow whole pills at 7 days post-op, so maybe ask your surgeon about that? I take a generic version of Citrical Maximum. It's two large pills twice daily.

You have got to try this multi-Vitamin chewable. Only 1 needed a day and they are tiny! They actually go down so easy...

You asked on the mulit-Vitamin Vitamin I suggested? It's a chewable just like what you're taking now, just smaller and you only have to take 1 a day.

I buy the Well brand of Calcium + D at Walgreens. They have chewy caramel or chocolate, which come 60 in reclosable foil bag. I only need one per day.< /p>

I don't swallow any Vitamins at all, I bought a bunch of vitamin patches from my Drs office. You just stick it on for 24 hrs then remove it and it last for 3-5 days (depending on the vitamin) the Omega and Calcium +D3 is every 4 days and the B12 power patch and B12 high dose+12 essential vitamins is every 5days. Its wonderful and I love it. I still have to take my Ultima Electrolyte drink for my minerals but the Patches are great.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
