Self pay you'll qualify. Insurance prolly not they look for a reason not to cover it and make you wait 6 months or more hoping you decide its to much trouble! Self pay is the way to go!

I started at 32.3 BMI. Surgery 12/31/14 and no pre-op diet. Although I did lose 8 lbs pre-op on my own (weighed 195 on 12/5/14, then weighed 188 on 12/31/14 surgery day). I just decided on my own not to pig out over Christmas; I was working on changing my eating habits and working on my mental behaviors with food. Luckily I have had zero post-op depression or hard moments. Zero. I don't know if I can attribute that to working on that before or if I was simply just so, so, so ready to change. My journey has been nothing but positive. I am ecstatic that I did this. Zero regrets. Good luck to you on your journey; I wish you the best!

What happens if you drop below 35 bmi before surgery?

Usually nothing. Most insurance goes by the weight documented when your paperwork is submitted for approval, not your weight the day of surgery. However, I'd double check with your program just to make sure.

Hi had my sleeve on 25 th November 2014. Bmi of 33. I am now BMI of 18. I am so happy it's amazing. Knees and health so much better and restriction still good. My problem is I'm only 6 months post op and still loosing but I can't afford to loose any more. I have lost my 4 1/2 stone =60 pound excess weight but it's still coming off and I don't know what to do. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do? I don't feel my restriction will alow any more calories .sorry to be insensitive to high BMIers but this is a real problem which I never envisioned . My husband hates me this thin ( which I really love), but worried iv possibly another year of weight loss. Can anyone advise please?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
