I am not losing weight. I had surgery 1/26 at 265. As of 4/15, I am 248.

I feel so depressed and I am SO disappointed.

Yes. I am having NSVs. But I am also still really fat and this tool doesn't seem to be working. When I go back to my surgeon, I am considering revision to bypass.

Please any advice is welcome. I feel miserable.

What are your eating habits like? How many calories and how much Protein are you taking in? Are you exercising along with your meal plan?

We definitely need some more information before we can start offering advice. Try to answer the following questions:

  • What are you eating?
  • How often are you eating?
  • How much are you eating at a time?
  • How much Protein do you get on average?
  • How much Water do you get on average?
  • Are you exercising regularly?
  • If you are exercising regularly, how long, often, and what are you specifically doing?
  • Did you follow your surgeon's post-op nutrition plan?

Sorry for the name change. I am the original poster, just signed in under my old name.

Ok...

An average day looks like:

8am: Premier

10am: snack (granola bar, maybe an egg, or yogurt, fruit)

Noon: lunch (salad or a taco)

2pm: Hungry again. Usually the rest of my lunch.< /p>

5pm: Small dinner (baked meat, veggie, no carb)

7pm: small snack (meat rollup with cheese and a pickle)

No, I don't think I followed my diet. I think I skipped through the stages too fast. I was overly confident. Now that that's done, what can I do to correct it?

I workout about 2x a week, taking that up to 3 this week. I am trying to focus in this area.

I drink a lot of Water.

I think I may not be getting in enough Protein, looking at trying new supplements.

All in all... I am hungry. A lot. I don't feel any reduction in appetite.

You may not be getting enough Protein and eating too many carbs. Granola bars, fruit, salad, tacos... all have carbs. Maybe try tracking your food through an app like SparkPeople or MyFitnessPal for a few days to get a better sense of what you're getting in terms of calories, carbs, and Protein?

If you are eating 6 times a day (which is how often I eat), I can't figure out why you would be hungry unless you are getting too many carbs and not enough filling protein. Protein definitely fills me up more and longer than anything with carbs.

While you shouldn't worry about limiting calories, you *should* worry about getting enough, especially if you are planning to increase your exercise frequency and intensity. You need to be sure to get enough calories to sustain your workouts.

I have been tracking my food and focused on keeping my calories low.

I think I may be eating too many carbs as well. And was so focused on calories that I have cut down Protein.

I will try again this week and meet with my NUT.

Sometimes people lose slower than other. Don't be disappointed about not losing as much weight as you would like because at one point you stop losing on the scale and start losing inches from your body. I am one of those slow loser and I am always talking about losing weight. Every goal or mile stone will lead to you end goal.

I realize this is controversial, but some of us are very carb sensitive. During the weight loss phase I drastically reduced and even eliminate all sugar sources. That included fruit. When I got smart, i even eliminated Protein bars (too high carbs).

Examples, if I ate a taco, it was wrapped in lettuce not a taco shell.

Yogurt - looked for lower carb/less sweetened high Protein greek yogurts.

No fruit, lots of low carb veggies.

No shame in eating 4 to 6 "mini meals" a day - that is the right thing to do. They should all essentially be protein and veggies with just a smidge of a carb source.

How is your Water and Vitamin consumption? do you know about Water loading between meals to help with hunger?

I definitely second tracking your intake in MyFitnessPal. It's easier to track total calories, Protein and carbs. You could be eating too few calories and/or too little Protein.

Go back to basics. Really really focus on protein. meat, eggs, cheese, Greek yogurt.

Also, your "hunger" could be acid. I thought I was hungry constantly until I found out it was acid. A PPI fixed that and now I don't need it at all at almost six months out. Check with your doctor.

I "third" the vote to track on My Fitness Pal. It keeps me honest. I do it whenever I think a pound or 2 may have creeped on. Also, measure or weigh everything you eat. Your carbs may be higher than you realize. Also, do you have regular appointments with a nutritionist/dietician? They are trained to help. Sometimes a once a week appointment can really improve one's mood. Most importantly, don't give up!

Best,

Amy

Thanks everybody. I called my NUT and made an appointment for a consultation.

I think the carb thing is a major issue.

What's a good carb goal?

It depends! Listen to your NUT. I kept mine below 30 grams the first three months then bumped it up to 30-60 a day per Doctor's orders.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
