krissy202001 5 Posted April 20, 2015 I am almost 3 weeks post op sleeve. I take birth control pills to regulate my cycle but I've been spotting/bleeding on and off since my surgery almost 3 weeks ago. Is it possible my pills aren't being absorbed well enough and I could possibly end up pregnant? That is the last thing I want right now!
brandy31 32 Posted April 20, 2015 A lot of woman's periods are out of whack after the surgery. I've always been super regular, but even mine was late after surgery & I spotted when I shouldn't have been. You're body is just going through a lot of changes. I think there may be some other post on this topic if you search. I remember looking for them at one point, too.
Lynkaosgood 23 Posted April 22, 2015 I decided to get the iud device before I started my weight loss journey, I didn't want to get pregnant before it was advised to start trying for a baby. I knew there was a girl in my group get pregnant 8 months post op, she was advising everyone to not follow her path.
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted April 22, 2015 Everything I've seen / heard re WLS and pregnancy says: "Use two forms of birth control after WLS to avoid becoming pregnant before reaching and maintaining your weight loss goal." There's something about WLS that seems to make women of child-bearing age more fertile. Dunno how it works. But it sure seems to work that way. Good luck!
