xochtlem 54 Posted December 24, 2015 Anyone familiar with Dr. Stephen J McKenna? His practice is in Frederick and he's affiliated with Holy Cross. I just went to his seminar this evening. I'm in Silver Spring, btw.

I saw that Howard has a program as well, I'd have to check to see if Tran takes Anthem BCBS. I see he's in the BCBS network, just not sure if he accepts my plan. I didn sign up for the seminar in a couple of weeks, tho.

xochtlem 54 Posted December 25, 2015 @@xochtlem no. I went to Howard university and used Dr Tran. Highly recommend him. Well it turns out that Tran IS in-network and accepts my plan. I signed up for the seminar on the 11th. If you don't mind, could you share what steps you had to go through in the process and how long did it take from seminar to surgery day? I have one concern, because I recently moved here in 2014 and just hadn't found a PCP yet. I have records from my old one, but I'm nervous whatever new PCP I go to will give me a hard time about giving me a letter of medical necessity/clearance although I have a 41.5 BMI. I don't have any other health conditions (yet), but I'm just tired of always losing and gaining it all back. And now I'm seeing issues with joints, back pain, etc...it's just time. Anyways, if you could shed some light on the process you went through with Dr. Tran, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! 1 dvmp61 reacted to this
Chrystee 838 Posted December 29, 2015 @@xochtlem I went to the seminar in August of last year, had my consultation in September and my surgery March 18th 2015. I could have done all my nutrition appts in 3 months, but honestly, it was over the holidays last year, and I had so many things I had to do (heart clearance, pulm clearance, sleep apnea test, etc) that I ended up doing one nutrition apt a month, so 6 months. I could have completed them every 2 weeks, because of my insurance. I had no PCP, or letter or anything. but I have BCBS federal, so it all depends on ins. let me know if you have any other questions.. feel free to shoot me a message. 1 dvmp61 reacted to this
