I am now on day 16 of the six month diet required by my insurance company. Anybody have any experience to share from your 6 mo. diet?

My insurance company also is making me do 6 months. After getting some clarification really what it meant is that I have to see my primary physician each month to talk about weight loss and changing habits. I am just at the end of the forth month. My husband has surgery in nine days for his sleeve.

Next week will be # 5 of 6 for me! Since I started my 6 mo doctor supervised diet - it's opened my eyes on how to eat better! I try make my meals a well balanced meal - (which I never did before) and watch my portion sizes. I've completely cut out junk food, and have weaned myself off of caffeine. I'm taking the weight off slowly. I weighed myself on my bathroom scale this morning and I'm down 15 lbs since January.

The best piece of advise I can give you is - if they required a food diary from you - use MyFitnessPal.com! I print off my monthly diary of food & exercise to take with me for each appointment. That way my NUT can see that I'm staying on track and it makes it easy for her to provide me suggestions on things I need to change in my diet.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
