@@Joz31 I haven't heard from you...how you doing? I didn't see anyone in recovery. I had ladies on both sides of me writhing in pain, and I just wanted to wake up enough to move on over to my room, those ladies were making me so sad...like they were already regretting what they had done, and they hadn't even woke up yet. Holler!!

I hate to say it but I was one of those ladies writhing in pain next to you. Of all my surgeries this one was by far the most painful. The nurses thought it was because the drain tube sat right under my diaphragm so every time I had to breathe it would rub on the drain tube creating pain. unfortunately since I'm a terrible IV stick I ended up with a central line as well. I'm trying to do the best I can with getting in my fluids which I'm getting about half right now. I'm staying on top of my pain medication so that I can keep moving around. I am thankful I have not had any nausea but my stomach does talk to me all day long LOL I'm glad to hear you're doing well I can't wait to get back feeling semi-normal!!

@@Joz31 so that was YOU! (kidding) I am sorry you had a tough time with that. It's over now...WE DID IT!! Now it's just a matter of healing and following the food plan to lose the weight and get healthy. The bumped me up again when I got there. I barely got my clothes off and they said...bumping you up again, can't get IV's in 2 patients so you are next! I was in my room before 11am. I didn't have enough time to even get nervous or worry. I got my clothes off, the IV in and next thing I knew I was in recovery. My pain level never got above a 6. I was one of the lucky ones!

Hello Sherrie congrats i just had my 1 month anniversary on 24th of this month! I remember how i felt? Before and now the weight is melting away. I now have found a great shake mix , not sure where you are at. But i use Protein plus i get it at grocery store or walmart; i use the chocilate soymilk since we cant have dairy, and it goes in blender with some ice 25 grams of protein. And now a teaspoon of Peanut Butter taste just like a reese cup. So hang in there we are here to help let me know if you need anything. Sheila!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
