I understand! Mine is this coming Monday morning but it has taken me so long to get to this point that I am mostly just ready to get it over with.

Best of luck with your surgery.

I am on day 5 post op. Did you talk to your doctor about the gas? They fill up your belly with gas, and it took 3 days for me to expel it. There is very little pain from the surgery itself, but the gas was a different story for me. Very painful. Keep on the liquids, no matter what.

Yes, but don't panic. It helps your surgeon see things as he works laparoscopically. I didn't know about it either and I Just wanted to make sure you knew.

I had no clue so thanks for telling me. How did you expel it? I meet with him on April 21st so maybe he'll explain it then.

Walking and moving is supposed to help with the gas as well as your circulation.

Day 5 pre op and my gas isn't too bad but are we allowed to take gas x? If so, is that a pill? Cause I tried to take a very tiny sleeping pill and it wasn't able to dissolve in my new tummy till 12 hours later.

Gas- X comes in a pill form, chewable tablets, and strips (dissolvable strips). There may also be a liquid formulation. I have heard from other people who have had the sleeve surgery and they say to make sure you bring gas-x with you to the hospital. Haven't had my surgery yet so I am not sure about all the rules myself. I think your fine to take the strips or even the shareable formulation. Hope you feel better!!!????

Thanks, I'll be sure to buy the chewable ones tomorrow!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
