How to Choose Between Band and Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I had LapBand surgery in September of 2013 and I lost a total of 24 pounds and gained back 10. I am aware that I contributed to the fail but I am feeling like the discomfort I feel when I eat only makes me mad and discouraged. I am going to see my doctor to inquire about revision to the sleeve. Love your post!

People have had success under both surgeries. My doctor no longer performs the band though because of the amount of people who have had failed bands.

I also have PCOS and was given the option of the sleeve or the bypass. I chose the sleeve. I probably would lose more weight with the bypass, but the sleeve is what I am comfortable with. I am 4 weeks out and have lost about 25 pounds.

Good luck

I wasn't comfortable with the idea of a foreign object in my body on a long term basis. The sleeve I wasn't sure about because of how new it is and I wasn't really comfortable with the removal of parts vs the "rerouting" of parts. I'm a recent bypass patient myself.

The band wasn't a choice for me. It wasn't offered at the hospital I was having surgery at. I picked the sleeve, because Ididn't want a piece of my stomach hanging around if it wasn't being used. I also didn't want to deal with dumping and with the chance of serious nutritional issues. The sleeve has worked very well for me I've lost ninety pounds in the last year, sixty since the surgery, while I'm still considered obese, I went from a BMI of 50 to a BM I of 33. I still have ten pounds to go before I hit my surgeons goal.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
