Hello, Had my gastric sleeve surgery 4/9/15, so I am 9 days post op. Feeling great and I am sure I will feel better when I start seeing a substantial weight loss. Hoping to connect with others and find support as well as support others.

Congrats! I wish you luck!! I'm excited when I see such a small amount of time out of surgery and someone posting their doing well... Being so close to my surgery date, I was starting to not want to look at the forum bc I felt like I kept seeing posts with just out of surgery and ... happened. Kind of scary when your so close to go in! How are you doing with your Fluid intake? Walking?

I'm doing great! Going back to work Monday! I don't think I'm an exception because I really don't handle pain all that well. Upon starting my journey, my doctor said out of work 4 weeks. When I resisted he said at least 2 weeks out of work. I asked if I could get him down to one. He said he would let me know at my post op visit. Well post op visit was 5 days out and he said I could go back to work when I felt ready. I'm ready. This will help me with my walking, since I do a lot at work. Sipping fluids throughout the day. I really can't complain about anything! Wishing you the best of luck!

So impressed that you went back to work in one week. My surgery was April 15 at south Nassau community hospital. I was four days in hospital, out for three days and rehospitalized for 5 more days. I still have pain but I am back to work since 16 days post surgery.

Where are you from?

Lisa

Heavy to Healthy, I am from Buffalo, New York area. I stayed in hospital over night, that was it. That is the norm for this surgery. Glad your back to work and doing well. I was just given the ok to start exercising. Joined a gym this past Monday. Did you have the sleeve?

Yes... But for some reason, I ended up

With either a GI infection or just a bad reaction causing severe Fluid loss whenever I drank/ate.

Anyway, I'm better now and will be starting exercise as soon as my energy level is up. Hopefully tomorrow or over the weekend. My husband brought the treadmill into the house a few days ago because the garage was either freezing or roasting!!

How are you doing? When was your surgery? How much have you lost? How soon could you eat?

Lisa

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
