Does illness increase complication risk?

Recommended Posts

Having my surgery on Tuesday. On the flight over to Mexico, 2 days ago, I felt like I was going to die! Ended up going to the closest doctor as soon as I arrived and well, I had some intestinal infection. Worse than any stomach virus I had ever experienced. It's was horrific and I was absolutely miserable. It was even more difficult because of the language barrier.

My thoughts are, is it okay for my body to undergo surgery after being this ill? And, what type of risk does that put me at complication-wise?244lbs before starting my preop diet.

My surgeon wouldn't do the surgery if you had any illness within 2 weeks.

Did they give a reason?

I am a little nervous, I came to Mexico for the surgery on Wednesday. I emailed My coordinator on Wednesday and she said that since I was more than 5 days out it would be okay. Surgery is Tuesday and I'm still not 100% better. What to do?!! I flew all the way here and have been paying for my hotel stays. Very nervous!

I'm sure you be a lot better by Tuesday. I had a bad cold when I had mine, felt awful, congested, body ache. I did fine. I think the antibiotics they give after surgery helped me get over it a lot faster.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
