purpleandgold 28 Posted April 17, 2015 Having my surgery on Tuesday. On the flight over to Mexico, 2 days ago, I felt like I was going to die! Ended up going to the closest doctor as soon as I arrived and well, I had some intestinal infection. Worse than any stomach virus I had ever experienced. It's was horrific and I was absolutely miserable. It was even more difficult because of the language barrier. My thoughts are, is it okay for my body to undergo surgery after being this ill? And, what type of risk does that put me at complication-wise?244lbs before starting my preop diet.

Stephanie Stroup McIntosh 157 Posted April 18, 2015 My surgeon wouldn't do the surgery if you had any illness within 2 weeks.
purpleandgold 28 Posted April 19, 2015 Did they give a reason? I am a little nervous, I came to Mexico for the surgery on Wednesday. I emailed My coordinator on Wednesday and she said that since I was more than 5 days out it would be okay. Surgery is Tuesday and I'm still not 100% better. What to do?!! I flew all the way here and have been paying for my hotel stays. Very nervous!
Goldy6575 38 Posted April 19, 2015 I'm sure you be a lot better by Tuesday. I had a bad cold when I had mine, felt awful, congested, body ache. I did fine. I think the antibiotics they give after surgery helped me get over it a lot faster.
purpleandgold 28 Posted April 20, 2015 I'm nervous that my immune system is weak...I've already had to take antibiotics for a root canal I had.
