I certainly hope you would inspect any facilities or surgeon before you recommend them.

We absolutely inspect every facility we use prior to sending our members there. Dr. Almanza and his staff made promises to make some major but very necessary changes and he didn't keep up to his end of the bargain. If we can't trust a surgeon to keep their word, we most definitely can't trust him with our members lives!

Do you know anything regarding Dr Joya in puerto Vallarta? Why isn't he on here?

There was a partnership with Dr Lopez Corvala. Why did that end? I want to have surgery in a full fledged hospital rather than an outpatient center. Also Dr Corvala has extensive relationships internationally with bariatric research groups and sits on the international board having conducted research in addition to his hands on experience.

I sound like a sales person for him practically, but I've just done my research and feel he's the best option for me. I'd really like to book through and have the assistance of Bariatric pal though! Pea it look like the relationship will start again?? Thanks

Such a snake. It's pretty sad that he has to deflect what has happened by placing blame on somebody else. He's taken no ownership for what has happened.

is that jerk STILL in business???? it is almost a year later and I am having to have surgery to remove adhesions that his sloppiness caused which has interfered my colon! I HATE him. RIPPED me off, did NOT 'resleeve' me, lied about it, and now THIS!!! argh... if i could do him physical harm... I would LOVE it. THen when I voiced my displeasure with him on another board, I was nearly beat to death by some members who accused me of 'working' for one of his competitors! ARGHH

I am sorry you had to go through this.

Do you mean the (his?) website Gastricsleeve Forum?

I'm new to the forum. Does this mean you "work" for certain doctors?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

BariatricPal is affiliated with a few surgeons in Mexico to bring special package pricing to members of the forum. They only partner with surgeons who meet their strict standards and clearly Almanza doesn't come close!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
