Well I am almost 7 months out and I have been in a stall for the last month but my biggest concern is that I had high sugar (170-200) before my surgery. I was on Metformin 800 mg 2 times a day and after my surgery I was dropped to 500 mg 2 times a day til I was at 3 months. Then they put me to 500 mg 1 time a day. My sugar has been hovering around 100 and I have been getting light headed, really whoozy and feeling weird. At my 6 months check up I told my GP (He is handling my sugar), about my sugar. He took me off my diabetic meds completely. I sugar has been between 80-100 for the past 2 weeks. I haven't changed the way I eat except instead of Glucerna shakes I am doing Premier Protein shakes (maybe 2-3 times a week). Any one else having this problem? Oh and I am still loosing my hair and I have been on Biotin for 3 weeks. Any suggestions would help.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, it doesn't sound like a problem as much as a victory. You're off of your diabetic meds and you're maintaining your glucose between 80-100. 80-120 is a normal glucose reading for a person who is not fasting, so as long as you aren't dropping under 80 and you aren't continuing to have dizzy spells, then this sounds a whole lot like the sleeve did its job and you may actually be "cured" as a diabetic. That's one of the big promotional materials of the sleeve in that it's supposedly the only procedure that has the ability to resolve diabetes.

As for your hair, it's going to fall out. I took Biotin, Hair-Skin-Nails, Folic Acid, and all kinds of stuff and my hair fell out for about the first year. I am 1 year and 7 months out and I can finally see that new hair has grown to about the point just at the middle of my ears, so all the thinned stuff at the bottom looks a little silly, but the top is growing back to its old thickness. Some people who have consumed a lot of Protein have not had as much of a Hair loss issue, but for most of us, that is one of the unwanted side effects of the surgery. Fingers crossed though, most people have noted that your hair does grow back and it's only a temporary issue.

As for your stall, sometimes you hit those. I hit one that last almost two months at around 168, and at 130 I didn't drop a single pound for three months. As long as you're doing everything you're supposed to, the weight will eventually drop.

Thank you AvaFern. Your comments helped me a lot. I was getting nervous about my sugar as my Mother was Hypoglycemic. I always take my sugar in the morning 80-100 before I eat and again before supper and that has been 100-120.

Sounds like your levels are right where they should be for a person who is not diabetic and really good for someone who is a diabetic. If you're no longer on any medication and you're maintaining in the 80-120 range, that's an NSV for sure! :)

your sugars do sounds good. Your next A1C will tell the full story. But I bet the results will be good :-)

Are you getting in enough Water? The light-headedness could be dehydration?

Do you notice any correllation with when you feel that way and maybe high/higher carb consumption? I notice that if I eat something carby, I feel yucky (technical medical term, lol).

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
