Clear/Color Water

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone out there besides me who don't drink clear Water, instead only use Crystal Light or some other form of diet favor powder mix to put in their water. Do you think that not drinking clear water and crystal light only will create a stall???

I don't know why but ever since my surgery I can not drink plain Water. I used to drink a lot of it before but now it feels like it's harder to swallow. I drink lot's of other things as long as they are calorie and caffeine free it should be okay.

I don't know why it would create a stall, I wouldn't think it would. Is it that you cannot get down regular Water that you only use Crystal Lite? How far out from surgery are you? I like to use the Water Enhancer drops for most of my drinking, but am starting to cut back on that, trying to drink plain Water. Now that I am farther out (almost 5 months), I can tolerate it a lot better. And I like it better. I'm just of the mind that all the artificial colors/flavors are probably not the best for me. I LOVE iced tea, and am using different flavors (favorites are chai-spice and French vanilla), so that makes drinking more interesting!

I understand the surface tension of the water is altered by adding something to the water, thus making it easier to get down. If it helps you to get more in, then why not?

I used to drink Water all the time before my surgery and now I can't. Instead I drink a lot of Vitamin Water zero and bai drinks. Sometimes I dilute them with water.

My NUT said Crystal Light is OK as Water replacement. That's all I use.

Crystal Light is a life saver for me. I have never tolerated plain Water, it has to have some type of flavor to it. Plain Water always made me sick to my stomach. I have no explanation for it, but as good as plain water is for you, I just can't do it.

Also, I forgot to mention the brand HINT. My NUT recommended it to me. It is Water with a hint of natural flavoring. It goes down well for me, even though plain Water does not. There is nothing artificial in it either. I buy it from Amazon, but I have also seen it a Whole Foods.

Hello there

Drinking Water was something I could never do. I don't know why there's not really a taste to it but it gags me. I use suger free drink mixes. Crystal light mixes and diet snapple the peach is the best. My tastes for certain foods have changed slightly I seem to want to eat eggs and bean and bacon Soup, weird but that's what I want. Lol

Good luck

Vicky

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
