Plastics: Before & After (post your pics here!)

Yes. I'm only 8 weeks out and I went for my first "run" yesterday. I am still WAY hurting, and I was an avid runner, training for a marathon at the time of surgery. I think I'll be doing a lot of run/walking intervals until I'm completely healed. It was more painful than I thought it would be. But my surgeon said it is ok, that I'm not going to "hurt" anything in there, but just to listen to my body and not push it for the first at least 6 months.

Wow really?!?! That makes me sad. I am three weeks out tomorrow (did my first marathon two weeks before surgery) and am missing it so much! Was hoping I could try at four weeks (paperwork says I can "ease back in to exercise plan" then) but when I asked at my appointment last week if I could try gentle/restorative yoga the nurse laughed at me and said NO.

I was hoping to be back for a half marathon in October. Maybe not

I literally had dreams about running in the months after my plastics. I thought I hated running, but then it turned out I really missed it while I was recovering!

I really wanted to get back out there today, but I was just hurting so much that I couldn't bring myself to it. Maybe this afternoon. I guess the biggest thing is just listening to your body and not pushing too hard too fast. At least that's what I'm going with. It's so frustrating though because I"m dying to get out there and get training. Ugh.. Patience .....

Yes exactly truly the best to let yourself have the space to recover and listen to your body.

Who'd have thunk it? Not me anyhow. That it would make me sad to NOT exercise!

I know, right! I've been dying to try a barre class too for my xtraining days, and I know my abs would weep if I put them through that right now. lol. It's frustrating!

Jaimelogical.

Hi I know you got your sleeve at the OCC like I did. I have a question when do you think I can do Zumba and hardcore workouts? They said I could swim at 3 weeks, but what about running?

I was told nothing more intense than "brisk walking" for 6 weeks.

Take it easy. Your body still have a lot of healing.

Listen to your body, and you will be running again before you know it:-)

I am scheduling Lipo, BA, bl, and Tummy Tuck. I was (and of course my husband too) wondering about what size implants to get...and how do I know what they will look like afterwards. I've looked at tons of pics and I know I dont want them to look like two big balls jutting out of my chest....

Alright to all the Veteran's who had plastics...Is it insane to think of doing all this at once Lower body lift, brachioplasty, and breast aug??? Would that be crazy? I had plastic surgery once before and though it was miserable, I don't think I could make myself do it more than once more. And that is only if I can talk myself into surgery again ...ever! thanks for the advice. (oh BTW it was breast aug and lift previously done bilaterally...this time would be a unilateral implant)

thanks

sas

@@sdocforce My gut feeling is that is a lot. I did a similar amount by having breast lift with augmentation, extended Tummy Tuck with muscle repair, fat grafting to my butt, and all over body sculpting with Lipo at one time. So I didn't have the brachioplasty you're looking for, but I had fat grafting. And I didn't have a full lower body lift, but I did have an extended tummy tuck where my incision is almost fully circumferential (maybe like a two inch gap at my butt crack). It was definitely a LOT to handle at once and I was down for the count. I had some complications with swelling in my lower back that caused my recovery to take longer than planned and caused me to be out of work and working half days for MONTHS. Also, my total surgery took well over 8 hours and I ended up needing a blood transfusion afterward (not while in surgery, but just to help me bounce back shortly afterward).

I would have a serious talk with your surgeon prior and see how much they are comfortable doing in one op. They know their limits. And remember, not only does your body need to be able to undergo anesthesia for that long and endure that much trauma at once, your surgeon has to have the stamina to be operating for that long!

Well I am taking the plunge!!

I went to the plastic surgery consult since I have not lost any more weight for the past year. He says I am good to get reconstruction surgery. I set the date for the first of 2 surgeries for plastic reconstruction. I will have the arms, tattas and Lipo on my thighs (staging for the second surgery, a belt abdomenoplasty in 2-3 months). The date....August 27th. I am told the surgery will take 7 hours and I will stay in the hospital over night. I am excited.

Pictures to follow.

So what does "full lift" mean exactly?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
