Two weeks post op today and finally back home. Had my surgery out of town and had to stay for a couple of appointments.

Has anyone else's dr had them just go purchase Spanx rather than providing a compression garment?

Definitely not. I had a stage 1 compression garment for about 4 weeks, then a stage 2 garment for 6 weeks, then wasn't allowed spanx until 10 weeks.

My doc supplied the wrap around compression and recommended daily use for about 8 wks. Toward the end, I did use pull on compression for dressing for work... Then changed when I got home.

Jamie. My favorite part also is my real flat stomach and the difference in posture. So worth a crummy week or so !

Yes, mine did have me purchase any spanx-like product.

So many different doctors and different recs just like WLS. You chose your doctor because you trust the doc, so listen to those recs.

My doc gave me a binder for my abdominoplasty and I am to wear it for 4 weeks 24 hours a day except when bathing. Don't know if that's stage 1 or 2. Unlike many I didn't get any compression for my arms. My breast lift I had a compression tube top for two weeks and can now wear any supportive non underwire bra.

This is me about 4 weeks post op from my TT and panniculectomy. I still have the scar sheets on my scar, but it's healing quite nicely. I could not be more pleased with the results.

The muscle, lymphatic system, and nerves take a VERY long time to heal. So while incisions can be looking great in just a month or two, everything on the inside takes a lot longer. It's very important for plastic surgery patients to take things slowly and follow their surgeon's plan for compression garments and activity after surgery.

Yes. I'm only 8 weeks out and I went for my first "run" yesterday. I am still WAY hurting, and I was an avid runner, training for a marathon at the time of surgery. I think I'll be doing a lot of run/walking intervals until I'm completely healed. It was more painful than I thought it would be. But my surgeon said it is ok, that I'm not going to "hurt" anything in there, but just to listen to my body and not push it for the first at least 6 months.

Wow really?!?! That makes me sad. I am three weeks out tomorrow (did my first marathon two weeks before surgery) and am missing it so much! Was hoping I could try at four weeks (paperwork says I can "ease back in to exercise plan" then) but when I asked at my appointment last week if I could try gentle/restorative yoga the nurse laughed at me and said NO.

I was hoping to be back for a half marathon in October. Maybe not ????

Everyone is different. I had a significant amount of ab muscle repair done after 4 9+ pound babies & 150 excess pounds. It probably depends on the extent of work you have done & probably your pain tolerance too.

I technically was released for exercise at my one month check up, but I was barely standing straight at that point. Running seemed impossible. I probably could've started last week, but decided to give it one more week hoping that the extra week off would help speed up the healing.

I am registered for a 1/2 marathon the 3rd weekend in October. My official training plan starts July 27, so I am just trying to ease myself back up to 3 miles (where the plan starts from) by then.

You may have a completely different experience. I hope so!! Lol. Still would do it all over again....totally worth it.

We shall see! I had muscle/fascia repair as well and a breast life/augmentation and arm lift all at the same time! So I am probably being optimistic to think I will be back at four weeks... But I can hope!

I just read an article that said if you are on the athletic end of things it takes about four weeks to start to lose muscle mass so I was hoping to be back by then. Also said you lose 20% of cardio strength/V02 capacity by then. Was thinking 20% wasn't bad LOL!

Ah well, like you I don't regret it and will do whatever I have to do to get the best outcome, I just miss it! I honestly don't feel much like running yet, but wish I could get back to at least gentle yoga...I feel like it would help with the posture/hunching. I feel like I CAN stand up straight now, but continue to hunch and it's starting to hurt my shoulders and back!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
