Hey All,

It's been about 4 months since I had my surgery, I'm down around 70 pounds since the pre-surgery diet. However, while 70 pounds seems like a huge amount, I don't feel like my body has changed as significantly as 70 pounds sounds.

My face has changed significantly but my body in general has not changed as much as I assumed it would. Before my surgery I could barely fit into a 3x and now I still shop about around a 1x.

I'm not sure if it's just because even 70 pounds down and I'm still over 250lbs and have way more to go - but despite the scale my belly and rest of my body don't feel like I've lost as much weight as i have.

Has anyone else had issues with their perception?

You are asking for too much! I weighed 322 pounds and don't think I saw a pant size drop for at least 40 pounds. When the fat is spread all over it is not as easy to see the difference but it is still there. With the RNY My surgery weight was 269 and I am now 236... The difference is much more noticble because I was already 50 pounds lighter than I was at highest weight. Be patient and kind to yourself.

Sizes drop really slowly at first. Patience is such a hard thing. Don't you wish you could just wake up skinny?

Also keep in mind that clothing makers are all different too. Many of the plus size clothes are made so that weight gain/loss isn't so noticeable in sizes.... You may be in a 3x shirt or pants and lose 30 lbs or more before before you change sizes. Where as if your in a size 7/8 and gain or lose 30 lbs the size is much more noticeable. Make sense?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
