Yeeees, most MDs need help with spelling.

I looked at your state's licensing authority and there is nobody by your name licensed in your state.

Well, his coordinator is helping his with his spelling. Maybe his coordinator wasn't helping him with spelling when he wrote his name?

There are a few bariatric surgeons that are make whose last name begins with B and are in the NOLA area.

Just playing Devil's advocate here.

Guys, I think his name is Dr. B. and he's from New Orleans Louisiana (NOLA)

You're right. We did get his name (which he doesn't want revealed here, which is fine). I did look him up and he is licensed.

No problem w/you playing DA. We were just a little concerned and had to do some investigating.

Sorry about that,

My name is Todd Belott MD Im a partner at Surgical Clinic of Louisiana in Marrero LA. I have been doing almost exclusively Lap Bands since 2004.We are small, no Web Site yet. I still see each of my patients every time they come to the office. We also see patient from Mexico and Europe. Our coordiators, one who is also a patient and lost over 100 lbs in 6mos has helped create our diet protocols. The advice I give is the same advice we give our patients. I just want to help and give a medical prospective. Again sorry for my poor typing skills.

My sister keep vomiting and has been since she 's had the surgery. She is at her weight goal already. I asked her why she keep vomiting daily sometimes up to ten times a day. She says it's because of what she's eating and the amount. Like I said she's maintaining her weight but I know all that vomiting I told her is going to cause a serious effect on her if she doesn't start eating the way she's suppose to. Oh don't worry I want look you up to verify who you are.:) and If I mispelled something..oh well. p.s. I also want to know if you think that BMI will ever get lowered for people like me with 50 lbs to lose so we can maybeee jump on the lap band wagon.

The vomiting is troubling. She could be too tight or she may have a slip. How old is her Band? If she eats slowly and a small amount does she still get sick?? If not then she is eating too fast and too much. She needs to see her surgeon so she can be evaluated further. Vomiting to maintain her weight is very concerning.

Her band is from 5/06. Her last x-ray was 9 months ago to check for band slipage but it was negative. The reason she had the x-ray done was because she was vomiting a lot. So she still does and I don't know how she lives with it. I asked her about her eating habits...her reply was: when she eat little and slowly..no problems but most of the time fast and more food than she should be taking in. So I guess what I'd like to know is what are some of the complications besides dehydration she could end up with although the girl is always eating. She has never been in the hospital for anything since her surgery. I was thinking that kind of vomiting would eventually cause problems with the esophagus, teeth..and other digestive organs??or what

Persistent vomiting and retching increses the risk for a slip. Stomach acid demineralizes the teeth by removing Calcium. A Malory-Weiss tear or partial tear of the esophagus can happen and cause massive GI bleeding. Seen that a time or two. Vomiting is bad...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
