How big is your stomach pre and post banding?

Recommended Posts

Ive been reading alot of books about gastric bypass though Im planning on being banded Ive only found two books on banding and though the procedures are different I believe I ultimatly could benefit from the experience of others and tips and tricks they use.

Ok so to the point I came across this cheese Test

The cottate cheese test its a test to see how big your stomach pouch is. So heres my plan I plan to try it pre band and then again after band. JUst figured it would be interesting to see how big my stomach currently really is.

I was wondering if anyone else has come across this or done this? and would they be willing to share there results.

So after I hit the market tomorrow I should be able to test it on Friday morning I'll post what I find.

Eva

ok so pre band I can eat about 7oz and Im stuffed funny how I can drink way more then that but thats all the cottage cheese I could eat before I wanted to hurl in those 5 mins. I guess I'll try this after with my band and see what happens.

Interesting - I'm pretty sure I could eat more in the afternoon than I could first thing in the morning though - I can sometimes get tight even on yogurt in the morning.

Eva, I dont know that you are going to like the results if you do this after banding. If you do it before you get any fills the cottage cheese may be able to easily go through your band thus not giving you the results you wanted. If you wait until you have some restriction and you eat to see how much you can eat you will probably make yourself sick?

Either way good luck! Why not just ask your doctor how big your new pouch is after surgery?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
