I need a GENTLE multivitamin

Recommended Posts

The Multivitamin that I was given is a capsule (Celebrate brand) and as soon as it hits my stomach it comes back up. I need something gentle. any suggestions?

I take the Celebrate chewable with Iron. My NUT said I can have 2 Flintstones. I got those when I ran out of Celebrate. I will give the rest of the Flintstones to my husband. I don't like the flavor as much as the Celebrate and the Celebrate has Iron. I was given a sample of Bariatric Advantage chewable and that was fine. My NUT said I only need to take one a day of either of these since I am a sleeve not bypass.

Do you think it is the capsule that isn't sitting well versus the multivitamin itself? If so, then any good chewable multivitamin may work. I personally don't like gummies and know a few doctors that don't think they are a good delivery method and not just for bariatric patients. My chiropractor won't get his kids Gummy Vitamins because he does not believe they are as bioavailable. I found I could not find an adult chewable at Target that was not a gummy. The only non-gummy kid's one didn't have iron. I have a pre-surgery history of low iron so want iron.

Well when it came back up the capsule had already dissolved so I think it's the contents more than the capsule. My PPI is a capsure and I don't have any issues with that.

I thought about taking flint stones instead. I'm only 3 weeks out.

I take one Flintstones chewable with Iron, but not at the same time I take my Calcium supplement. My one year labs were beyond excellent. I also take D3 and B12.< /p>

I take Centrum chewable (they have to be the orange ones so says the doc), but (2) chewable Flintstones Vitamins are fine also. I take sublingual b-12 and chewable calcium citrate as well. :)

I think that's what I am going to end up getting. I'm pretty sure my NUT told me no flintstones.. but I feel like something is better than nothing.. and it tasted pretty darn bad throwing up the multi this morning (at work)

I experienced a similar problem, but with my chewables. I started on opurity, which I was throwing up by day 3. I couldn't keep down Centrum chewables. I tolerated the Flintstones COMPLETE (it's important to get the complete because they have Iron, which is a major must) just fine, but it turned out I was allergic to the dyes (a rarity, but that's always been me), so I broke out in hives. Celebrate made me sick, too.

I wound up getting the okay from my doc to start on a regular pill so long as I could tolerate it.

Basically, I think Flintstones Complete will be the answer for you. They taste a little like sweet tarts, but they're tiny. Much easier to chew up and keep down.

I take the high potency chewables at Trader Joes. They are alright only because they are chewables and the only ones our NUT said to do if we took the chewables route.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
