I'm totally addicted to....

Recommended Posts

I wonder if anyone else gets started on one thing and just can't get enough of it? I must confess I am so completely addicted to Edamame with sea salt. (immature soybeans) For now that is my vice. I love them! I figure that it could be worse right. I could be addicted to Cookies or chips. I post this here for others who may want to join me in this craze when you want a snack and you are tired of the usual ones. Why Edamame? well let me tell you...

For one serving of the PictSweet Deluxe Sides you get...

1. 110 calories

2. 7 net carbs

3. 4 g Fiber

4. 9 g Protein

5. 3.5 g fat

6. Cost about a dollar a carton.

7. They are very portable

8. They steam in the carton in about 2 mins

9. You get the feel of snacking (like popcorn or chips only healthier)

10. Great mild flavor...a lil salt, kinda nutty...mmmm

Each bean has about two or three seeds in the pod. That's what you want to eat, not the pod. So they are kinda fun to eat while watching tv at night. You can find them in the freezer section with the other veggies. If you can't have soy, these are not for you. Also, if you have a thyroid issue, they say soy is not a good choice. But for me, these lil guys are awesome!

I'm with you on this. I eat edamame for dinner at least 5 nights a week. I get them at costco in a 12 serving package for around $9. I never really get sick of them, because you can flavor them so many different ways. Sometimes I just do the sea salt. Sometimes I put Old Bay, Siracha, Italian dressing, roasted garlic, balsamic vinegar, or any combination of these. I even dip them in blue cheese dressing on occasion. It just depends on my mood that night. I also love the fact that they force you to eat slow without really thinking about it. It would actually be harder to eat them fast. Definitely a great addiction!

That's what I came here to say. I am 100% addicted to the chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest Bars. I had been eating two a day for months (one for Breakfast and one as an evening snack), but I am trying hard to cut back to one a day now. It's not been easy. I just love them sooooo much. I'd just eat five a day and nothing else if I didn't know how horrible that would be for me!

Love edamame!! And I agree with @@SuperDave, since you have to open each one, I can't just scarf them down. It's a slow process of snacking. <3

@@SuperDave It's a complete love affair. lol I usually just do the sea salt but i have also used popcorn seasoning like white cheddar or garlic Parmesan too. Soo good!

Lovvvvve Quest bars! except for the new Smore's one...ick. I can eat a bar and no longer have a sweet tooth and get my Protein in too.

oh and my newest must have is the zero (calorie) ultra Monster energy drinks in the white can. Yummy.

Edamame is best served with Lemon Pepper seasoning. OH EM GEE!!

I also love the butts and ends of cheese. Many markets sell them cheap in the deli section and you can get a variety of chunks cheaper than cheese sticks. I get tired of string cheese, so the variety is fabulous.

My biggest vice is beef Jerky. I always have it. It's light, portable and pure Protein goodness.

I love Quest bars (like Jaime, the choc chip cookie dough & Cookies and cream) also perky turkey jerky(love saying that) ...both are delish.

Never leave home without them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
