Wondering if I really was too tight

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I had my 3rd fill last wednesday. I went from 2cc up to 3cc in a 9.75 band. That night it was horrible, I couldn't eat or drink anything. I woke up several times during the night choking on my saliva. I immediately went back to the doctor the next day because I had lost 8 pounds overnight. He took out .5cc and left me at 2.5. I was told to stay on ice chips over the weekend and see how it went. By Monday I was able to drink only 2 16 ounce bottles of Water the whole day and could still not eat anything (not that I even wanted anything). Today I was still only able to sip at liquids so I went back and he unfilled me completely and said to give it about a month and let things calm down. Of course when he did the unfill I was finally able to drink with no problems. Oh forgot to mention I had lost 13 pounds in one week. My question is when you are at your "sweet spot" are you able to drink liquids fairly easily or do you have trouble getting them down? I understand about solids, but I am wondering if I should have left the fill alone and maybe that's the way it is suppose to be. Can someone who has found their "sweet spot" please explain to me about drinking liquids? Do you have to sip, does it hurt to drink more than two sips, can you drink more than 32 oz of water a day? Thanks for all the help.

You shouldn't have trouble drinking.

You need to be able to get a liquids down especially if you exercise or if it is hot out, etc.

And you do need to be able to get nutrition from food as well. You should not feel any restriction drinking Water.

Hi there,

I am finally getting an unfill on monday. I have needed it for a long time and have been recovering from major back surgery.:cry I started choking during the night if I had too much to eat a couple of hours before bedtime. I could not get over the feeling. I have always been tight in the morning and have had my band a little more than 18 months. It took a year to be at the right spot but I think I went a little over and just worked with it. I do know I want a little removed, I may have to go into radiation for another problem in my back, I have a nerve tumor.:help: If so I may get sick and really might have to get unfilled. For now I plan to get .5 cc out, I believe I am at 3cc. I have a warm Protein Drink in the am always, this gets the band to open from the night. Suring the day I have no trouble at all, it also might be the night meds that I take that dry out my system. I do drink a lot of Water.< /p>

So you are right to get the unfill. That choking is bad and I also found that I would wake up coughing too. Not good during a deep sleep. I still have 25 lbs to go, been on a plateau for almost 10 months.;) It saved me during the last surgery, I would have gained as I did with 7 knee replacement revision surgeries. One of the reasons I got the band. I maintained the weight which is heaven!:clap2:

Wow, this is a great question. I hope an experienced bandster replies soon. I've had 4 fills, and have an appointment on Thursday with my surgeon to determine if I should have another. Last time I saw him I was told that was should be near my "sweet spot." Since my last fill I'm not able to eat any solids before 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning. Liquids are fine, so I have a Protein drink in the mornings. I take very small bites of food and chew very, very well. When I do this, I do not have problems with PB'g. Sweet spot is also determined by the amount of weight a bandster loses. I've probably lost an average of 1 lb a week since my last fill. One more thing, after a fill I am on liquids for 24 hours. Your doctor doesn't require that? Maybe you tried to eat solids too soon after a fill? I'm glad to read the other posts that indicate we should be able to drink liquids with no problems. I've always worried about if I'm drinking Water to fast.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
