Feeling Discouraged

Recommended Posts

I had the RNY in 2004 and lost 157 pounds. After a baby and ten years I had gained back 80 pounds. Thus past year I have been in and out of the hospital with internal bleeding and serious intestinal and stomach issues. Ulcers up and down and peptic disease that was not going away with medicine. A new surgeon (not my original) decided I needed emergency surgery after I collapsed in February from internal bleeding once again. He took out a foot and a half of my small intestines and 80% of my stomach. Unlike my original RNY he completely removed the infected intestine and stomach from my body. While I didn't have the surgery to loose weight again obviously it is to be expected and a bonus :) I've lost 26 pounds since my surgery on February 23rd. The last three weeks I've lost nothing!!

Exercising ????? That's the first question I have for stalled patients, then its ARE YOU LOGGING ALL YOUR food ???? in particular look at calories and fats. With all the digestive parts removed now and still stalling, I believe if you take care of the two issues that I've mentioned ( reduce caloric intake & EXERCISE ) thing will be fine, no magic here. Take care.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
