Mine was on a computer. 10 minutes, tops.

It's all about the $$$$ I even had homework to do. As if I didn't have enough to do with school homework and work on top of homework.

As a mental health professional myself, I am skeptical of any psych eval that is under an hour. The clinician needs adequate time to get to know you, collect information, and assess you. In my experience, evaluations take anywhere from 1-2 hours depending upon the clinician, practice, and insurance.

What are your thoughts on the mmpi-2?

I have not used this tool personally. I know that it is widely used and has good reliability and validity. Since it's a battery of questions that the person needs to answer, how "good" it is really depends on the person who takes the test. If they are truly honest, then good results will follow. If they lie, then the results won't mean much.

As a clinician, I take into account all of the evaluations that a client has had and incorporate my own questions, etc. to help me understand where a client is. Is it time consuming? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely.

I would have much preferred that. When I was done I remember feeling like I wanted to explain some of my answers but they were just true or false with no space to put an explanation.

I agree. Surveys don't allow for a "well it depends" type of response. That's one limitation of surveys. To help provide a clearer picture, I always gather additional data from a client.

You may see the terms "quantitative" and "qualitative" data being used. The former refers to numbers; the latter refers to words. Neither type of data is perfect, but when you use the two together, you get a better picture. Kind if like watching 480p with just one of the types of data and 1080p with both.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
