Yeah, I LOVE watching the cooking shows. I am a fantastic cook, and it SHOWS (and not in a good way!!!)! But I don't WANT to give up my shows (especially 'Chopped'), because I learn so much from them. And THIS is my plan, and it is WORKING!!! Yippee! I am allowing myself to watch my cooking shows ONLY when A. I am eating and no one else is home, and B. when I am FULL!!!

It used to be I would watch them when they were on, which would make me hungry, thus I would eat, A follows B, etc... SO how can I still benefit from the shows but NOT pay a penalty for it? Just what I said, I record the program, then watch it according to plan! As a result.....learn a lot of techniques, and HAPPILY, ECSTATICALLY, JOYOUSLY fit into a size MEDIUM JEGGING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can I say that without appearing overly HAPPY? no.

I too love cooking shows! I am obsessed, I find that when I cut and chop and prepare my food I really appreciate the flavors much more . What gets me is the commercials for fast food and pizza, ugh!

@@CanyonBaby We share the same passion! I, too, watch cooking shows. ALL DAY LONG!!! I am a very good cook and I own over 200 cookbooks. Family gatherings are always at my house. I have learned so much from watching the shows and my family appreciates it very much. :D

I do get hungry watching! I discovered that I don't care to watch them making sweets any more. I used to love that over everything, but something has changed in my brain! I am only interested in savory foods now.

Chopped is also my favorite show! Along with Diners Drive-ins and Dives! That show makes me want to travel and visit those places!

Yeah, I love Guy's shows, also! And Barefoot Contessa, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and Pioneer Woman. I am trying to cut back on the shows, but my all-time favorite is The Great British Baking Show (on PBS). Unfortunately, the season for it now is over, but man, I learn a lot about baking that way! Love to bake, my favorite. Again, IT SHOWS!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
