Hi everyone. I started my journey last Nov with researching the Gastric Sleeve option. I am approaching retirement in a few years and felt I needed to get myself to a healthier me before co-mobidities started. I had my surgery on March 6, 2015 and and have only lost 14 lbs. I have other aquaintenances that had their surgery after me and have lost more that 25 lbs. I have been very faithful on plan and recording all foods, Water and exercise including Ricola drops. The support group I go to also, those members seemed to have lost more weight than me in the 5-6 weeks. I held at the same weight from Mar27 to Apr 10th. I have a checkin on Apr 22nd and will bring all my recordings with me. I exercise 3 times a week (strength and aerobic).Have any of you experienced this slow of weight loss?

I too started out slowly and got very frustrated, but everyone is different and their bodies react different. It will happen for you and right now I am at a block too. I am 6 1/2 months post and I have been stuck at 185 down from 248, forever it seems. Hang in there and ask the surgeon any questions you might have. Last time i went in for my 6 month checkup I had a whole list and he actually stayed there until all were answered. I still sometimes compare and know I shouldnt, but still do. I even find some that has lost less then me. Good luck! Dont give up!!!!

The mistake you are making is comparing yourself to others. I made that mistake early on too and it led to a lot of frustration on my part. We are all individuals and all lose at different paces. I "only" lost 14 pounds in my first month as well. And I've "only" been losing about 6 pounds a month since then. But you know what? Seven months later and I am only 25 pounds from goal. As long as the scale keeps moving down, down, down, what does it matter how fast? You will get to your goal eventually and 10 years from now, will it matter that it took you a couple more months to get to goal than someone else? NOPE!

Not that you are doing this, but PLEASE never compare yourself to the person's before or after your surgery. At times, we can get the same mentality of when we go to the gym...When the person next to us is "running" on the treadmill and we are "walking". We can become frustrated because they can move quicker than ourselves. It gets better as the months move on. We all have our unique stories. As the saying goes, "It doesn't matter how you started, but how you finish". You are doing great!!

Everyone loses differently. Start taking your measurements. Sometimes you lose inches, but not pounds. Make sure you get your Protein and Water. Try logging everything you eat and what times. Also log if you feel hungry. It may help you determine some trends.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
