Jimetta 3 Posted April 14, 2015 I posted a couple of days ago that the hunger pains were nasty. Had post op visit yesterday. Apparently normal for some. Thought maybe it was gastric juices. I took my Gaviscon granules at night before bed. Woke up without the hunger pains!
Bonawanabfree 280 Posted April 14, 2015 @@Jimetta Oh yes, I know about that. I had the worst hunger pains. I still get them sometimes. I found that it was more of an acid reflux problem than anything. I started taking prilosec and it has dissapated drastically. Hang in there. it does get better. I am on my 5th week now and let me say, I am over the moon with my progress. I am so happy to be off the liquids and eating again. Once you start to eat food again you will start feeling better. I can still only eat 3 oz at a time. Thats a whole other issue cause it is mental...lol
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted April 14, 2015 If you aren't on a regular PPI, talk to your doctor or surgeon about getting on one. That will help with acid production. Gaviscon and Zantac and the like are more for neutralizing acid once it's already there. What you really want is to produce less acid in the first place, which a PPI will help with. 2bullymom 44 Posted April 14, 2015 Oh I know this feeling! It happened when I was about two weeks or so out. I let myself get TOO hungry and it felt like someone was stabbing me with a knife. I will NEVER make that mistake again! I am glad you found the cause of yours and hope they don't ever visit you again
