Pre-Op appointment Wednesday...

Recommended Posts

I was approved for my surgery and I am meeting the surgeon in two days. How long does it take to actually set the date? Hopefully soon? I'm full of anxiety, excitement, and fear!

I had my meeting with my Surgeon on March 13th and scheduled my surgery for April 28th. I could have chosen a date a week or two earlier but I needed more time to get m work completed.

O ya CINCO DE MAYO! I met with the surgeon today and It was so boring and easy. We set the date for May 5th, 2015! I guess the day before I meet him again and we do some tests. I was so nervous to see him and now I'm just ecstatic! I've lost 30 total since I saw him 8 months ago. SCORE! Chipotle for lunch now to the gym and tanning with my sister. Best day EVER!

Had my pre-op appt today, but my surgery date was provided on my first appt, and we've kept to it. (April 23), We (my husband and I) have 8 days! Tomorrow we start our pre-surgery diets-- which entail liquids (shakes, Soups, etc. then on the 4/22 were to have Clear Liquids only which we'll continue to do after the surgery.

sleep study last night. I woke up on a deflated air mattress and had ripped off most of my electrodes. The guy in charge said I flipped and kicked all night, oh well.

I had a terrible time too with the sleep study.. That's by far the least sleep I'd ever had. But yet somehow they advised I'd gone into a deep RAM sleep. I don't think so!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
