Post op looking for buddy 4 support

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery in September of 2013. I ve lost 80lbs and kept it off but I want to lose 50 more. I'm struggling. I walk and run, careful with what I eat, but still struggle. I have this fear almost panic that the weight will come back. It would be nice possibly helpful to talk with others who have been threw the surgery.

I had my surgery a year ago in September. I have lost 143 pounds pre and post op and still have 50 pounds to lose. Recently I stalled after so research I found I might not be getting enough Protein, I also upped my calories, because I walk or do my elliptical for at least an hour 6 days a week. So now I am eating a 1000 calories and getting 80-90 grams of Protein a day, I also cut my carbs down to practically nothing. That seems to be working for me as the scale has started to move again. I am not saying that will work for you but maybe you need to play around with your calories, maybe add a little more sense it sounds like you do exercise. Anyway if you like to talk you can always email me at emmalou323@yahoo.com.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
