First Day on Stage 3 Puree

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Well today is the day in which I stared my stage 3 phase "puree" diet. I decided for Breakfast I'll have some Greek Yogurt in which I've never tried before and I might add that it was the most vile thing that I've ever had. So I've decided instead of the Greek Yogurt I'll have Peanut Butter for Breakfast. Does anyone feel the same way I do about the Yogurt? If so, what are you eating to take its place.

Have a beautiful day.

Prada.

I like Greek Yogurt and actually have been making my own for years. You can add some fruit to it if allowed at this time. It is not the sugar laden yogurt most are used to so people are often thrown by it at first. I just can't see Peanut Butter being a good option for a meal. There are much better options. But to each their own.

I'm on this phase too, gradually building up from thickened Soups (just had african peanut and sweet potato and chicken Soup which was delicious and triple Protein whammy of peanuts, chicken and skimmed milk). I had some tuna mashed with mayo today which didn't go down to well and gave me bad heart burn and some fat free mousse which was okay. I guess at this stage I'm a bit nervous about going more solid than cottage cheese….

I just started this stage too. A little later than most, I guess, because I had a set back and ended up in the ER after puking all day Friday. But, I'm reading the instructions from the doctor and some stuff online, but I just feel like I don't know what I'm doing, I'm feeling hungry already.... Am I eating enough? Today I had (and will have to equal 5 meals):

1. 4oz premade Protein shake (zero sugar) 2. 4oz can Soup I pureed 3. SF pudding cup 4. 3oz refried Beans with a few sprinkles of melted shredded cheese 5. 4oz premade Protein shake

Maybe I'll add a 6th meal?

I'm drinking Water and Propel in between meals.

Good luck to all!

Your meals look great. Are you getting 60-70 grams Protein? ? I still have the shakes also to get all my protein in. I have alittle hunger grumbles as well I just drink something and it goes away. I also have a smoothie or high Protein Drink at 8pm and that helps me

Wishing you luck

That is very similar to what I ate. Only difference is measuring by volume not ounces as stressed. I would typically eat 1/4 cup of whatever..except the Protein Shake. Also I added unflavored protein to both Soups and puddings.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
