I'm kind if like you, but it took me 5 years to finally decide I was ready. In retrospect, I certainly wasn't ready then. Learn all you need, talk to your bariatric team, you'll know if this time is the right time!

When I looked at the eight to nine pills a day I was taking I had my what I call "come to Jesus moment" I did not want to die from something I had control over. Also I have a disabled child who needs me to live. On top of it I am an RN and know better! I know I could lose the weight on my own but I could also gain it all back. The sleeve is a tool that has kept me from it. I have had a hard time this last month and gain like 5 lbs which I am working on taking off starting yesterday. But I am still a size 12 today down from a 24-26. I take one pill a day for thyroid that runs in my family. Tomorrow will be 2 years since my surgery and me thinking should I do this as I was getting on the OR table. I have no regrets and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Says the girl with all the great clothes!

The only way to be successful with this is if your are truly ready. This can be a hard journey to start, but I am so grateful to have begun. My surgery was in January and I am down 50lbs. I think I found my courage when I focused on my goal and not on the surgery itself. I hope you find the strength you need. Best of luck to you.

When I started feeling the way I hear my mom complain about, that was my trigger. I've never been heavy until about the past 3 years of my life. Now that it's affecting my health, I know something has to be done. I have already had my consult. I'm borderline as far as my BMI (slightly under). I'm praying to get approved by the insurance company, then it's on!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
